The Belgian Owl single malt

 'The Belgian Owl, Single  Malt is now a whisky.

 It is a distillate from a selection of the best Belgian malts.

 Malt refers to sprouted barley whose germination is stopped by heat.

 

This process, also called kilning, determines the aroma given off by the spirits produced by the still.

 

'The Belgian Owl' Single Malt not aged is a magnificent 'new spirit' with a delicious aroma in a fragrance of pear, cherry, lily and lilac, ending on an apple note.

 

New spirit is rarely available for tasting in most distilleries.

 

Here, you mustn't expect a spicy or peaty flavour nor aging in a wooden cask, because the malt is not peaty and the distillate has not yet been aged.

 

The distillation I practice gives a very flexible, smooth product. To obtain a top quality taste, I keep only the heart of the distillate obtained after a second distillation.

 

The malt distillate leaves our century-old stills in Grâce-Hollogne with an alcohol content of more than 70%.

 

'The Belgian Single Malt' is then reduced to 46% by simply adding pure water, as a final touch, it is filtered to give it a perfectly clear colour.

 

I recommend either drinking it as an aperitif or serving it as an after dinner drink, on ice or better still at room temperature to make the most of its aromas.
